Identifying Strengths and Developing Strategies
By taking the time to identify a learner’s strengths and developing strategies that compensate for weaknesses, we can design a learning program that focuses on:
- Helping the student understand how they learn and process information
- Building self-esteem
- Coaching self-management
- Developing habits, systems and routines that make learning easier
- Teaching “self talk” that helps the student cope with set-backs and remain confident
- Decreasing anxiety by equipping the student with the skills, awareness and knowledge they need to succeed
Our Approach
We realize that students with Dyslexia and ADHD process information differently from other learners, leaning more toward auditory and tactile learning styles.
We create a customized program for your learner by:
- Assessing the learner’s abilities and academic skills
- Identifying tolerance for staying on task
- Determining how personality influences learning
- Obtaining information and feedback from other professionals involved in the learner’s education
We Understand Your Learner
We understand your learner at The Center for Assisted Learning.Students with conditions such Dyslexia and ADHD may not possess all the skills they need to succeed in school, leaving them feeling frustrated and discouraged.
Experiencing prolonged and repeated academic failure can cause a student to display self-defense responses such as:
- Losing interest in school
- Blaming teachers
- Acting out at school or home
